MOUTH AND DENTAL HYGIENE IN DEMENTIA CARE - Buffalo Dental Show (bndmeeting.com)
Dr. Dan spoke at this year’s Buffalo and Niagara Dental Conference on the correlation between poor oral hygiene and dental neglect and dementia.
A very important topic, considering that 1:10 seniors die from Aspiration Pneumonia. This makes it the leading cause of death in this population.
A paper published in The Journal of Post/Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine (July 8th, 2021) was an important piece of research at NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing. They demonstrated that tooth loss is a risk factor for cognitive impairment and Neurocognitive disorder - with each tooth lost, the risk of cognitive decline increases.
It is imperative that the younger generation make dental hygiene a priority. Additionally, all care sectors serving the Senior population must promote oral and dental hygiene.
If you would like Dr. Dan to speak on this topic, please contact me.

"Just had brilliant feedback about your talk, one of my clients, apparently you sat on her lap. She nearly walked out in tears as your presentation touched a nerve." Stephen Truelove
